An Chéad "Chas" don ár EP

Idir sé agus seacht a chlog anocht, bhí "Caffeine Dreams", "La Maitresse" agus "Fluid Flow" ón "Par Avion EP ar Radio Na Life. Buíochas mór le Pearse! Bhí tú an-cinéalta na hamhráin sin a casadh ar do chlár. Táimid an-bródúil go raibh muid ar stáisiún lán-Gaeilge!

Hot Press Review

'Mail Order Messiahs blaze an intriguing and distinctive trail with their slow, majestic and liberally embellished hybrid of electro, folk and soul. The music is marked by moments of startling beauty and the overall effect is ethereal and otherworldly, but undoubtedly compelling and arresting at the same time' - Hot Press (Stephen Errity)

Par Avion EP launch - 4 Dame Lane, Dublin

RTE.ie Music Review of Par Avion EP

'If you're looking for something a little different (and better), the Mail Order Messiahs should be among your first ports of call. The Galway born/Dublin based alternative/electric indie pop duo have just released 'Par Avion', a four-track EP and, I'm happy to report, it's beatsy and blippy in all the right places but also melodic, musical and beautiful. A first release that boasts style and substance in the shape of four brilliantly crafted blends of trippy pop and gorgeous melodies that bodes very well for the future. That's not to say it's just 'promising' either - it's plain old 'really good'. Go get one'.

State Magazine Ones to Watch 2009

Mail Order Messiahs have been chosen by State Magazine as one of the Irish acts 'liable to make you more excited about the coming musical year than any other'.

Read the magazine here or download as a pdf.

Among the other acts chosen as ones to watch were the excellent Heathers and The Parks.

MAIL ORDER MESSIAHS

Michael and Darren released the dreamy electro-pop ‘Par Avion’ EP in November, so-called because the pair lived in different parts of the country and would send lyrics, demos, mixes and rewrites through snail mail.

State - What was the strangest thing that happened to you last year?

MOM - “We were in total silence with a minidisc at the door of Asylum studios, recording the street noise of Abbey Street, hoping a Luas wouldn’t wreck the take. The results can be heard on ‘Stalin’s Friend Dies’. At present, we’re trying to make contact with the rather worse-for-wear couple whose 14-minute blazing row we were lucky enough to digitally capture forever. Once they are successfully located, the royalty cheque will be winging its way.”

Unfortunately State will no longer be available in print format, it is 'shifting its focus wholly to State.ie, which will now become the hub of all activity with reviews, interviews, mp3s, news etc'. The print format, as an outstanding publication, will indeed be sorely missed and we wish the editors and team the best of luck with the online venture.

Repeat 2FM Session - Dan Hegarty
Our 2FM session will be repeated on Dan Hegarty's Alternative to Sleep on Wednesday 4th of February (from midnight to 2 am). The live session features Caffeine Dreams, La Maitresse, Plain (Acoustic version) and Rusty's Last Stand. 3 of the tracks are from Par Avion EP (DOWNLOAD)

Irish Times

dog ate our last update...... the chief suspect

Irish Times (Tony Clayon-Lea) featured MOM as one of the standout acts in the Irish music scene today: 'Dublin/Galway outfit Mail Order Messiahs are an act so under the radar you can’t even hear the blip, blip, blip of their music. A duo (Dar Fahy and Mike Liffey) augmented by stray presences and floating musicians, MOM might not feel the need to update their website (their last blog entry was in October of 2009 – hurry it up, chaps, for God’s sake!), but their music is so up to date it’s next month. We hear many influences (from Scritti Politti to Prefab Sprout) and several styles (electronica to pop and indie-folk), but most of all what we hear on their debut album, Plain , is utterly idiosyncratic and of its own.

Last night we failed to come through the Dublin heat of the JD set. Ladydoll emerged victorious. Our long standing dream of making Jack Daniels whiskey more socially acceptable to the alcopop alumni brigade lies in tatters. Photos of the unhappy occasion here, here and here...
